Rationale

The idea that we can learn through reflection is not new.   In 1910, John Dewey stated “we do not learn from experience but we learn from reflecting on experience”. Taking time to pause and reflect can bring awareness to our physical and mental state, and can help to provide a fresh perspective or needed break. Being able to pause and reflect may help students to stay calm and to avoid becoming overwhelmed or flustered in times of stress.
